TrackIR v5 worked great out of the box with the DCS A-10 simulator - didn't have to configure anything really, it just worked after the initial setup. You will have to tweak the sensitivity settings to match your desired speed and feel, but otherwise it does what it says it does. I recommend it if you're *that* into your sims and gaming apps that you can justify the price tag.

This is as close as it gets to being on the CAE 7000 Series full-flight simulator within the confines of your desktop. While package was smaller than I thought and the plastic material looked like it cost $10 to produce but it works as advertised and makes panning around cumbersomely with a joystick hat-switch forever a thing of the past. It felt easy and intuitive and will definitely increases the immersion factor in all your flight simulators.

UPDATE 5 - I gave away the LED "Pro" headset. It was a waste of money (even if it did work).

UPDATE 3 - The hat clip REALLY is better.
UPDATE 2 - If the perceived motion makes you sick, set the Speed to .1 or .2 and SLOWLY, over a few days or weeks, increase it.
UPDATE 1 - Once you get used to it, you'll never want to give it up.
The Amazon title is misleading. The manufacturer uses the word "Pro" to signify the infrared LED lighted device that attaches to the side of a headset. THIS unit DOES NOT have it. And that's good.
So why is that good?
I don't like wearing hats, and I do have a USB headphone set with a boom mike, so I bought the "TrackIR Pro Bundle" on sale directly from Natural Point. After all, I wanted THE BEST!!!
First of all you'll want some tape to keep the TrackClip Pro fastened to your headset. The clip is prone to popping open and/or slipping out of position. VERY often in my case.
Every time you take off the headset you'll have to reposition it and use the "Center" button. Want to scratch your head - time to re-center again. Get something to drink - time to re-center again. Go to the bathroom - time to re-center again.
And don't forget that you'll probably have a set of wires hanging from the headset also. Too many cables, not so good.
I also have three large monitors (using a Radion Eyefinity video card) and the TrackClip Pro sits a little too much below the head tracking camera mounted on top of the monitor. It does work, but not as well as it should.
When you get the Pro Bundle you also get the hat clip. So the next day I give it a try. Lets just say that the TrackClip Pro is packed away in a box in the shed now. The hat clip raises the refectors (on the hat) the the height of the "camera". This gives you much more freedom of movement, and is a lot easier to use.
The moral of the story is that you may be better off with just the hat clip. AND you'll have about $30 left over for something else.

Some people have sent this back for no good reason.
After using this for two hours I was ready to ship it right back! My problem was the same as many others: I didn't read about HOW to use it, before using it. It doesn't help that there aren't any "Do this first" instructions. The quick start guide is only for setting up the equipment.
So....
1) I've never had motion sickness until I used this device. If you have the slightest uneasiness caused by the "movements" on screen change the Speed to .1 or .2 and SLOWLY, over a few days, increase it. After the first two hours I was sweating and ready to throw up. With lower "Speed" settings I'm getting used to it, and soon will have it up to full speed.
2) Learn how to set a button or a key in the TrackIR software to center the screen WITH your viewpoint. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! You can not use this well until you do. TIP - Tilt your head up before hitting the "Center" button. Most of the time you'll want to look horizontally and down at the instruments. This helps to do both.
3) Set up a key or button to "Pause" the TrackIR system. TIP - I don't like using TrackIR in FSX spotter plane mode. A button on my yoke is set to switch to spotter mode within FSX. Fortunately, TrackIR doesn't use FSX to set its' buttons, so that one button can do two things at once - switch to spotter mode AND pause TrackIR until I switch back to Virtual Cockpit.
4) Any incandescent lights behind, or to the sides, can screw up TrackIR. A low watt bulb helps; a florescent bulb may solve the problem. I switched to a 3-way bulb with the lowest setting at 30 watts. It helps a lot, but isn't 100% perfect. There are settings that you can change in the software to make it better, but I haven't learned them yet. UPDATE - Software settings help a little. A 60 watt bulb can/will still cause problems if it's in the "camera's" feild of view.
HOW DO I LIKE IT?
As I learn more I'll like it better, and once I get used to the motion I'll like it A LOT!
The biggest problem is the cost. Even a slightly lower price would sell a lot more units, but that's their problem.
Is it worth $150? I think so; It's more natural and I can fly and land much better with it. What more do you want? And if you're into fighter games it may be essential.
A search for "head tracking software" will help you decide if a TrackIR setup will work for you.
PS - FSX set to "wide" with triple monitors and TrackIR really ROCKS!
